The AIMA Contact Form: How to Request Appointments (Including for Several People)
💻 What Is the AIMA Contact Form?
It’s an online form available at contactenos.aima.gov.pt, where you can submit requests to AIMA by choosing a specific subject. Depending on the subject, AIMA replies with an appointment or information about your process.
It was introduced in 2025 and has gradually been extended to more services.
📌 What Can You Request?
The available subjects change over time, but they have included:
- Appointments for residence permits for holders of a residence visa issued without an AIMA appointment
- Appointments for CPLP citizens with a consular visa
- Residence cards for family members of EU citizens
- Permanent residence cards for EU citizens and their family members
- Second copies of residence cards
- Changes to personal data
Always check the current list of subjects on the form — AIMA updates it regularly.
👨👩👧 Requesting Appointments for Several People
One of the biggest advantages of the form is that it allows you to request appointments for several people — for example, a whole family who arrived with residence visas.
How to do it well:
- Identify each person clearly: full name, passport number and visa or residence card number.
- Attach the documents of each person — passport and visa copies, clearly named (e.g. “Passport – Maria Silva”).
- Indicate the family relationship, so AIMA can schedule the appointments together where possible.
- Check that every person’s details are correct before submitting — one mistake can delay the whole request.
If the form doesn’t allow you to add everyone in a single submission, submit one request per person, referencing the other family members.
🛤️ Step by Step
- Go to contactenos.aima.gov.pt.
- Select the subject that matches your situation.
- Fill in the applicant’s details and those of the other people, if applicable.
- Attach the required documents — usually passport and visa or residence card copies.
- Review everything and submit.
- Save the confirmation (screenshot or email).
- Wait for AIMA’s reply by email — with the appointment date, time and location, sometimes in the observations field.
💡 Tips for a Successful Request
- Choose the right subject — requests submitted under the wrong subject may be ignored or delayed.
- Use clear, readable scans in the accepted formats.
- Use an email address you check daily — and check your spam folder.
- Don’t submit duplicate requests for the same person — it can slow things down.
- Keep proof of every request — useful if your visa or permit is close to expiring.
⚠️ What the Form Doesn't Do
- It’s not the channel for online renewals — those are done on the AIMA Renewal Portal.
- It doesn’t let you choose the date or location of your appointment — AIMA assigns them.
- It doesn’t replace submitting documents at your appointment.
🚀 Final Considerations
The AIMA contact form has become an essential tool for anyone dealing with AIMA — especially families who need several appointments. Choosing the right subject and submitting complete, well-organised information makes all the difference.
📢 Expert Advice: When requesting appointments for a family, organise every document by person before you start. A tidy request is processed much faster than a confusing one.
